This Smithsonian museum, which opened in 2016, is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. The museum's collection includes more than 36,000 artifacts that tell the story of the African American experience, from slavery and the Civil War to the civil rights movement and beyond. Visitors can explore exhibitions on topics such as slavery, segregation, the Great Migration, the Harlem Renaissance, and the fight for equality.

2. Water - We recommend that you bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, especially for our longer tours. Keeping well-hydrated will help you feel your best.

3. Comfortable walking shoes - It's essential that you wear comfortable, supportive shoes for our tours that involve a lot of walking. This will help prevent fatigue and discomfort.

4. Light layers - We suggest you bring a light jacket or sweater in case the weather changes or the indoor locations are cool. Being prepared for temperature fluctuations will ensure your comfort.

5. Camera - We encourage you to bring a camera or smartphone to capture photos during the tour. You'll want to have a way to document your memorable experiences.

6. Snacks - For our longer tours, you may want to bring some light snacks to have on hand. This can help maintain your energy levels.

7. Cash/cards - Please remember to bring money for any purchases, tips, or optional add-ons you may want during the tour. Having a mix of cash and cards is recommended.

8. Medications - If you require any personal medications, be sure to bring them with you. Your health and wellbeing are our top priorities.

Check-in:

The Illumination "I HAVE DREAM" Tour check-in is at 9:45AM. We'll do our best to accommodate early or late arrivals - just let us know how we can make your arrival smooth. Once checked in, we'll get you ready to explore the city's iconic landmarks on an exciting evening of sightseeing.

10% Discount for families of military veterans or pastors, up to 4 people. Enter Military at checkout.

Cancellation Policy:

Liberty Tours cancellation policy allows for full refunds or rescheduling with minimal fees if the cancellation is made well in advance, such as 24-48 hours before the tour date.

- Full refund for cancellations made 48+ hours in advance.
- 50% refund for cancellations 24-48 hours in advance. 
- No refund for cancellations less than 24 hours in advance, but option to reschedule for a small fee.

This allows customers flexibility while also ensuring Liberty Tours can recoup some costs for late cancellations.
