Washington D.C.'s famous cherry blossom trees originated as a gift of friendship from Japan in 1912. After years of advocacy, the U.S. received 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo, with the first two Yoshino trees planted along the Tidal Basin by First Lady Helen Taft and Viscountess Chinda.
Over the next decade, more cherry trees were planted around the Tidal Basin and East Potomac Park. In 1927, a re-enactment by school children commemorated the original planting. The first official Cherry Blossom Festival was held in 1935 and has grown into an annual spring celebration attracting visitors worldwide.
The stunning display of delicate pink blossoms signals spring's arrival in the nation's capital. Join us for an engaging 4-hour tour exploring D.C.'s renowned monuments and the breathtaking Tidal Basin cherry blossom scenery. Get your cameras ready - this is a sight you won't want to miss!
